Scott on George Stevens' AFL Debut
I would just like to start with some really good news for us, well maybe I should start with the unfortunate news.
At least in the very short term, Tyson Stengle is not going to play. He has got a family issue that he is dealing with, but it has opened up the opportunity for us to bring George Stevens in to make his debut.
As those who follow our VFL side closely would know, he has been ultra consistent this year not just on field in the games, but the way he has gone about it in our system.
It give us great confidence that he is going to come in and play to the same level that he has been displaying at VFL level.
After a bye, it is a good news story coming into this game.
Scott on his 350 game milestone
I try not to [reflect], to be honest.
I just try to look forward, I am struggling to think more than a couple of years in advance. Everyone has to in their life to an extent, you have to do some sort of long term planning. The more I look too far forward, the less comfortable I get and if I look a day back, I end up regretting it.
The acknowledgement is nice but that is sort of the extent of it, being around for a while. I think there will be a time, I was at the Hall of Fame a couple of weeks ago and they are nice occasions to see people get the chance to reflect. But I think it is a long time after they are finished for a reason, because that is the time to reflect, when you are done.
I am doing everything I can to just be in the moment, but thanks for the acknowledgement and lets move on.
Scott on Stevens starting in the 22
He will start.
It is an interesting question because the point has been brought up, I am not a fan of the sub rule to be honest but I am only one opinion in the aether. It is not the reason I am not a fan of it, but it is not great when a debutant is the sub.
I was always taught and I still fundamentally believe it now, that the team trumps the individual.
It is not a matter of us being nice guys, we just think that the right thing for our team this week is for him to be in the 22.
Scott on Cam Guthrie's return
We are looking at eight weeks to go in the home and away season but we are quite bullish on, I don't want to call it the probability of working his way back into the team, but what I am bullish on is that if he gets an un-interrupted run, there is no reason why he can't play at a similar level to his best at AFL footy.
He has done a lot of work, I think he is going to have little hiccups along the way which he has already had with his VFL return.
The way he is moving at training reminds me a bit more of the Cam Guthrie I knew, so I am pretty positive on that.
Scott on the health of Geelong's list
The best pointer for us is the numbers we have out on the training track, and that is starting to look really good.
I shouldn't have said that because they are famous last words sort of stuff, but there is so much good work that goes into it. I am hesitant to refer to luck, but there is luck as well lets be honest.
Even with the timing of these things, if you have a spate of injuries there is a bad time to have them, and then there is a really bad time to have them.
If we can get healthier coming towards the end of the season, I think that is going to be a positive.
