In a strong position with eight games to go, Geelong are poised to make a charge towards September when they return from their bye next week.

After a difficult stretch of games against strong opponents in the first half of the year, the Cats are set up nicely with 10 wins from 15 games and currently sit in third position on the ladder.

Awaiting in the final stretch of the season is a number of exciting clashes including four games at GMHBA Stadium, two interstate trips and a pair of matches up the highway in Melbourne.

See a full breakdown of what is still to come below.

Round 17 - Geelong v Richmond at GMHBA Stadium

Geelong start their final stretch of the home and away season at home, set to take on Richmond at GMHBA Stadium next Saturday.

It will be the first of two meetings between the sides in the back half of the season, with the Cats also scheduled to take on the Tigers at the MCG in Round 24.

Geelong will be hoping to gather some momentum in this game, the first of four matches at GMHBA Stadium to close out the regular season.

Round 18 - GWS Giants v Geelong at ENGIE Stadium

A chance for redemption in Round 18 for Geelong as they look to avenge their loss from earlier in the year, heading north to take on the GWS Giants for the second time this season.

The Giants have been a difficult team to get a read on in 2025 but there is no doubting their recent form, winning four of their last five games which includes a triumph over Brisbane at the Gabba, and a comeback victory over Gold Coast.

Remarkably this will be the first time Jeremy Cameron has returned to his former home ground since joining Geelong, with the Cats last visit to the venue coming in Round 1 of the 2020 season.

Round 19 - Geelong v St Kilda at GMHBA Stadium

Another chance to avenge a loss from earlier in the season, Geelong will host St Kilda in Round 19 as they look to snap a two game losing streak against the Saints.

St Kilda have had the better of the Cats in matches played at Marvel Stadium recently, but they have not won at GMHBA Stadium since since the turn of the millennium with their last victory in Geelong coming way back in 1999.

The two sides met in Round 2, St Kilda building a 41 point lead early in the third quarter before the Cats mounted a big challenge, closing within striking distance but ultimately falling seven points short.

Round 20 - North Melbourne v Geelong at Marvel Stadium

Geelong will be looking to snap a three game losing streak at Marvel Stadium, when they head up the highway to take on North Melbourne in Round 20, the Cats final game under the roof in 2025.

This has been a favourable matchup for the Cats in recent times, winning their last 13 consecutive matches against the Kangaroos dating back to 2016.

Despite sitting in the bottom four on the ladder, North Melbourne have shown signs of improvement winning three of their last five games and splitting the points in a draw with Brisbane.

Round 21 - Geelong v Port Adelaide at GMHBA Stadium

Geelong handled Port Adelaide in their first meeting this year, but the Power have also claimed scalps against other top eight teams this year meaning this is a challenge the Cats can not afford to take lightly.

Five of the last seven clashes between the two sides have gone Geelong's way, but Port Adelaide came out on top in the most recent match at GMHBA Stadium securing a six point win in Round 9 last year.

Round 22 - Geelong v Essendon at GMHBA Stadium

Another favourable match-up for Geelong in recent history, the Cats have won their past eight clashes with Essendon by an average margin of 56.2 points.

The two teams squared off at the MCG earlier this year, Geelong rolling to an emphatic 95 point victory and they will be looking to continue that momentum when the face the Bombers again in Round 22.

Essendon have only played Geelong at GMHBA Stadium twice in the past 32 years, meaning their last win at the venue came all the way back in 1990.

Round 23 - Sydney v Geelong at SCG

Another team that have been difficult to figure out this season, last years Grand Finalist struggled earlier in 2025 but have started to string together a little bit of momentum after back to back wins the past fortnight.

Geelong have not beaten Sydney at the SCG since 2019, their last two visits yielding a 30 point loss in 2024 and a draw in 2023 but the Cats had two big wins prior to that, one of those in the 2022 Grand Final.

The Swans have also started to regain some depth with stars like Errol Gulden and Tom Papley returning from injury, potentially setting up an intriguing contest in the penultimate week of the season.

Current Record: 6-8, 11th on Ladder

Round 24 - Richmond v Geelong at MCG

A second clash with Richmond to close out the home and away season for Geelong, this time heading up the highway to the MCG in what could be a nice tune up for September action.

The first game between these two should give a good indication of what to expect, but the Cats will be looking to finish off strongly against the young Tigers.
