Time Cat-Sule this week takes a look through 10 iconic performances from the 349-game career of Patrick Dangerfield.

2011 Round 8 v Gold Coast

Dangerfield's Stats: 23 Disposals, 13 Contested Possessions, 6 Goals

This was a somewhat forgotten but iconic clash, when a young Patrick Dangerfield in his 49th AFL game went toe to toe with Gary Ablett Junior in Adelaide.

Ablett kicked three goals in the first quarter as the Suns stunned the Crows and raced out to a 26 point lead, but then Dangerfield took over and stamped his authority on the contest.

Danger slotted two majors in the second term to help turn the tide, adding another in the third quarter and three majors in the last to finish with a career high six goals as Adelaide ultimately cruised to a 57-point victory.

Adding 23 disposals and five inside 50s to his six goal haul, the emerging star was awarded two votes on Brownlow night with the three votes going to Ablett (41 disposals, four goals), but it was a sign of the legendary career ahead for Dangerfield in a match-winning display.

2012 Round 5 v Port Adelaide

Dangerfield's Stats: 40 Disposals, 14 Inside 50s, 13 Score Involvements, 7 Clearances

The champion on-baller had already made his presence felt in previous Showdowns, but in 2012 he went to a whole new level against the Power.

Port Adelaide started strongly, but Adelaide wrestled back momentum through the middle of the match and opened up a game-high 27 point lead early the third term. Again the tide turned as the Power mounted a challenge, booting six of the next seven goals to hit the lead at three quarter time.

But four unanswered goals from Adelaide to start the last quarter ultimately did the job, as the Crows rolled to a 19 point victory.

Dangerfield's role in all of this?

A lazy 39 disposals, 14 inside-50s and 13 score involvements, taking out the three Brownlow votes for just the second time in his career to that point.

2015 Round 9 v Fremantle

Dangerfield's Stats: 38 Disposals, 29 Contested Possessions, 9 Clearances, 8 Tackles, 1 Goal

Who could forget this epic battle between Patrick Dangerfield and Nathan Fyfe, when both players were at the absolute peak of their powers in 2015.

Fremantle were on top of the ladder and undefeated through eight games, Adelaide were well entrenched in the top eight themselves, while Dangerfield and Fyfe were widely regarded as the two best players in the competition at the time.

In greasy conditions at Adelaide Oval, Dangerfield did absolutely everything he could to lift his team accumulating 38 disposals, 29 contested possessions and nine clearances, certainly rising to the occasion as has been a trademark of his entire career.

Unfortunately it was not enough on this occasion as Fyfe (40 disposals, 14 clearances) lead the Dockers to an 11-point victory, but Dangerfield could not have done much more in the heavyweight battle that nobody will ever forget.

2016 Round 1 v Hawthorn

Dangerfield's Stats: 43 Disposals, 21 Contested Possessions, 10 Inside 50s, 7 Clearances

Opening round of the season, at the MCG, against an old rival, there was no bigger stage for Patrick Dangerfield to make his Geelong debut and the superstar did not let the Cats faithful down.

Geelong dominated the opening half as Dangerfield ran amok, opening up a five goal buffer at the main break before the Hawks stormed back into the contest with five goals to none in the third term, the Cats trailing by two points entering the final term.

But a Dangerfield inspired Geelong outfit refused to lie down, kicking the last six majors of the game to run away with a 30-point victory, the champion on-baller finishing with 43 disposals which broke the record for the most disposals in a debut for a new team.

He also produced an iconic moment in the final term, soaring high above a pack to pull down a spectacular mark in front of goal.

2016 Round 12 v North Melbourne

Dangerfield's Stats: 48 Disposals, 13 Clearances, 13 Marks, 12 Score Involvements, 11 Inside 50s, 2 Goals

Already in the midst of an incredible first season at Geelong, Dangerfield produced one of the most spectacular individual performances in the game's history when Geelong squared off with the ladder-leading Kangaroos in Round 12.

The star midfielder did as he pleased under the roof at Marvel Stadium collecting a career-high 48 disposals, while also amassing 13 clearances, 12 score involvements and 11 inside 50 entries to produce a stat-line that defies belief.

Danger also kicked two very impressive goals to cap off the night, inspiring Geelong to turn a 10-point half time deficit into a 31-point victory over North Melbourne.

2017 Round 9 v Western Bulldogs

Dangerfield's Stats: 36 Disposals, 12 Tackles, 10 Clearances, 4 Goals

Three consecutive losses put Geelong on the back foot early in the 2017 season, when they returned home to GMHBA Stadium for a crucial clash with the reigning premiers, the Western Bulldogs in Round 9.

The brand new Charles Brownlow Stand was officially unveiled on the night and it was the reigning Brownlow Medalist who swung the Cats into gear, Dangerfield dominating the Dogs with another inspirational display in front of the Cats faithful.

Setting the tone early, Dangerfield ran down Marcus Bontempelli inside the opening minute of the game and launched home a set shot from outside the 50 metre arc, following that with a stunning finish from the boundary line on his left foot 10 minutes later.

Danger would finish the night with four goals and another unbelievable stat-line, helping the Cats to stave off a strong challenge from the Bulldogs and claim a 23-point win on an important night for the club.

2017 Round 17 v Hawthorn

Dangerfield's Stats: 20 Disposals, 12 Marks, 15 Score Involvements, 5 Goals

Another performance that Geelong supporters will never forget, the day when Dangerfield took down the Hawks on one leg.

An injury midway through the first term saw the champion Cat helped off in the arms of trainers, disappearing into the rooms for a period off time before re-emerging and taking on a different role at full forward.

What ensued was simply remarkable as a hobbled Dangerfield proved unstoppable, kicking five goals and taking eight marks inside 50 to lead his team to a narrow three point victory over Hawthorn.

The only knock on his performance was the accuracy in front of goal, Dangerfield finishing with five majors from 11 scoring shots but it was certainly still a match-winning performance from the number 35.

2017 Semi Final v Sydney

Dangerfield's Stats: 26 Disposals, 8 Marks, 10 Score Involvements, 4 Goals

Geelong needed a strong response in their 2017 Semi Final to avoid going out in straight sets and with all the pressure on the Cats shoulders, Dangerfield took the game by the scruff of the neck in a blistering first half.

It was somewhat surprising to see him start in the goal square but it was ultimately a masterstroke by Chris Scott, as Dangerfield booted four goals before half time to help Geelong extend away to a 36-point lead at the main break.

The strong start was enough for the Cats as they controlled the game from there, kicking away to record a 59-point victory which was heavily impacted by Dangerfield when the game was on the line.

2022 Grand Final v Sydney

Dangerfield's Stats: 27 Disposals, 9 Clearances, 13 Score Involvements, 6 Goal Assists

The cherry on top of his extraordinary career, Dangerfield's 2022 Finals series was phenomenal and his performance on the biggest stage of all lead Geelong to the Premiership.

Racking up nine clearances and six goal assists against the Swans, Dangerfield narrowly missed out on the Norm Smith Medal to eventual winner, Isaac Smith but he finally got his hands on a premiership cup after a long and storied career at the top level.

Dangerfield was not going to be denied in 2022, his performance in the Preliminary Final was just as dominant where he collected 28 disposals, eight clearances and two goals against Brisbane.

2025 Round 8 v Collingwood

Dangerfield's Stats: 29 Disposals, 8 Score Involvements, 1 Goal

While this stat-line might not be as crazy as some of the other games on this list, Dangerfield's impact against Collingwood, particularly in the final quarter continues to show just how important he is in his 18th season at the top level.

With the Cats facing a seven-point deficit at three quarter time, Dangerfield collected 13 disposals, 10 contested possessions, five score involvements and a goal in the last quarter alone, helping Geelong to boot four unanswered goals which ultimately was enough to win the game.
