Miers on the takeaways from Round 13

I think it was a really good team performance.

Especially at this stage of the year, you get these weird weather conditions and these weird games, different opposition and a different team ourselves with a few changes.

Those games are where you want complete performances and I think we did that.

It might not have been as entertaining in the last 20 minutes as some you want as a fan, but it was a really good feeling out there that we always felt in control and did our job.

Miers on the Cats position in the season

I always look back on my history of eight years to other seasons.

I think the years we have gone well and deep into Finals, there is a similar feeling that we are in a good position.

The job is definitely not done, there is a lot to do but you want to set yourself up to get in form at the right time of year and I think we have done a good job of that.

We are looking towards that and that is what we are aiming for.

Miers on Jack Martin's impact

He is fantastic.

We have been hoping for him to get out there for so long, we had seen glimpses here and there over the pre-season and now we get to see it in game.

I think there is a lot more to come with Jack, he can do it all. It is so surprising how tough and strong he is, but he is so agile and fast as well.

I love playing with Jack, he is going to be a great addition to us either forward, back or in the midfield, that is the great thing with him.

Miers on his contract extension

I think the conversations started early in the year, around pre-season time.

I have a great relationship with our recruiting team, with my manager also.

It was kind of a no-brainer for me to want to extend, it was just getting the logistics right for both parties and we did a great job of that.

It was one of the easiest processes I have been through, so it was pleasing to get that done and be able to stay around the club I love. 

Miers on his journey so far

I was down watching the Falcons the other week.

Even that was a surreal moment thinking jeez, I wouldn't have thought I would be in a position now to watch these guys and be in the position I am in.

I never thought I would be so lucky, being at Geelong so I am very grateful.
