The AFL coaches votes have been released for Round 13, with Max Holmes topping the table in Geelong's win over the Gold Coast Suns at GMHBA Stadium.

Holmes received a perfect 10 votes after accumulating a career-high 40 disposals and 10 clearances against the Suns, adding seven inside 50 entries and six score involvements in a phenomenal display. With ball movement at a premium in difficult conditions, the star Cat was also able to generate a game-high 861 metres gained, helping to spark plenty of Geelong's attacking forays.

The 10 votes in Round 13 takes Holmes' season tally to 39 votes, the second most of any Geelong player this year and on the cusp of the top 15 on the overall leaderboard.

Tyson Stengle was also recognised for his brilliant performance, receiving eight coaches votes to become the 16th different Geelong player to receive coaches votes in 2025.

In a match hampered by rain and slippery conditions, Stengle looked a class above with his skill and composure, kicking four goals in a game where no other player managed to kick more than one major. The crafty Cat laid another five tackles against the Suns, continuing to lead the AFL for tackles inside forward 50 with 27 for the year.

Gryan Miers continued his strong form on the weekend, receiving three votes from the coaches after amassing 26 disposals, six score involvements and a goal against Gold Coast.

Shifted into the midfield in a negating role against Noah Anderson, Mark O'Connor has also received three coaches votes for his instrumental role on Saturday. The Irishman was able to hold Anderson to 19 disposals which was his lowest disposal since Round 6 in 2024, while also impacting the game the other way with 21 disposals, 10 tackles and seven clearances of his own.

Rounding out the votes were Jack Henry (18 disposals, 10 intercept possessions) and Tom Atkins (23 disposals, eight clearances) who both received one vote from the coaches.

Despite missing the Round 13 clash, Bailey Smith remains on top of the overall leaderboard with 59 votes for the year, one vote ahead of North Melbourne's Tristan Xerri.

The AFL Coaches Association’s AFL Champion Player Award is an award voted by the 18 coaching panels on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis after each home and away game, acknowledging outstanding effort by an individual player in a season.
