Geelong have ascended into the top four on the ladder for the first time since Round 1, looking to continue their momentum as they head to the MCG for a clash with Essendon on Saturday afternoon.

Entering Round 14 on a four game win streak, the Cats claimed another scalp last week as they defeated the Gold Coast Suns by 24 points, their fifth win against top eight teams this season.

Geelong have held the ascendancy against the Bombers in recent history, but it is a vastly different Essendon outfit in 2025 that currently sit in 10th place on the ladder with six wins for the year.

Prepare for another big clash and take a first look ahead to Saturday's trip up the highway, as the Cats prepare to do battle with the Bombers at the MCG.

2025 AFL Season - Round 14

Essendon v Geelong Cats

MCG, Melbourne

Saturday June 14th, 4.15pm (AEST)

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Geelong: Jeremy Cameron

He was kept relatively quiet in tough conditions last Saturday, but Jeremy Cameron remains five goals clear on top of the Coleman Medal leaderboard after a stellar start to the year.

The superstar forward has been a solid contributor against Essendon across his career, booting 40 goals in 15 games to help lead Geelong to a seven game winning streak over the Bombers.

In the absence of Tom Hawkins for the first time with his well-renowned record against Essendon, Cameron will be the focal point of the offense on Saturday and will be important if Geelong are to kick a match-winning total.

Essendon: Nic Martin

Martin made his AFL debut against Geelong in 2022 and immediately showed his talent, booting a game-high five goals despite the Cats rolling to a 66-point victory.

The star Bomber has been in impressive form this year, averaging over 26 disposals per game while going at 78.1% disposal efficiency, also ranked seventh in the AFL for total marks and fourth for uncontested possessions.

Often used as the connector between half back and half forward, Geelong will need to limit Martin's impact in order to disrupt Essendon's transition game on Saturday afternoon.
