The Geelong Cats have bolstered their AFLW squad ahead of the 2025 NAB AFLW season, signing experienced key position player Erica Fowler.
Fowler, 32, was originally selected by Collingwood with Pick 70 in the 2018 AFLW Draft and played 46 games for the Magpies between 2019 and 2024.
Fowler made her AFLW debut in Round 1, 2019 in a historic clash against Geelong at GMHBA Stadium, the Cats’ inaugural AFLW match and first win. Fowler was also part of Collingwood’s VFLW Premiership side later that year.
In the 2024 NAB AFLW season, Fowler featured in seven games for the Magpies before joining Sandringham for the 2025 VFLW season. She has impressed at that level, playing six games, averaging 13.5 disposals, 3.5 marks, 6.3 tackles, and 24.2 hit outs.
Standing at 180cm, Fowler will provide valuable depth for the Cats in the ruck and other key position roles.
Prior to pursing her football career, Fowler was a Rugby 7s athlete and off-field worked as a paramedic in Queensland before relocating to Victoria.
Geelong Cats Operations and Recruiting Manager – AFLW/VFLW Ben Waller said he was thrilled to complete the Cats’ AFLW squad ahead of the 2025 season.
“Erica has shown strong form at VFLW level in 2025, and with one spot remaining on our list, we identified the need for a tall and to add depth to our ruck stocks.
“Bringing a wealth of experience, we are excited to see what Erica can contribute to our program both on and off the field.”
Fowler joins the Cats as a replacement player, with Chantel Emonson and Anna-Rose Kennedy placed on the inactive list. Her signing follows the recent addition of Emma Kilpatrick, completing Geelong’s list for the 2025 NAB AFLW season.
