Blicavs on his contract extension

The club were happy for me to play on next year and I really wanted to.

I am really enjoying my footy and still motivated, so it was a very easy decision. I pumped to play one more year at least.

The club has been great to me from day dot. I have said it many times previously, they didn't need to give me a shot way back when as a Category B Rookie and they did. I am forever indebted to them.

I am always wanting to play here, I love the area, I have some great mates here so it was very easy.

Blicavs on what drew him back for 2026

Probably my teammates, I really enjoy playing with them.

I have got some great mates, talking about 'Bewsy' and 'Guth,' Jack Henry, Mark O'Connor but the young boys coming through as well. Seeing what Max [Holmes] is doing on the field, seeing what Ollie Dempsey is doing on field, it is exciting.

I think we have always said that it is a great place to be at the club, we want to compete and we want to win games, we want to be up there at the pointy end of the season.

I feel like we have made a great start to this season, that is the goal at the end of this year and then again next year. I am excited to see what we can do.

Blicavs on surpassing some Geelong greats for games played

There is some great names and that is always really exciting, but I think I will think about that more post-career.

I am really trying to stay in the moment, I know it sounds a bit cliche but I am really trying to enjoy everyday, every training session I have got here.

You mention some of those names and it is a real privilege, because they are the ones who taught me how to play football way back when, when I first got the club. You mention James Kelly, you mention Harry Taylor and all these guys, it is pretty special to have played with them and learned from them.

They taught me the right way in terms of how to play footy, the value, how to work hard and keep myself healthy so I am available to play as many games as I can.

It has been a great journey, but I am not finished yet.

Blicavs on his role and lining up against Marcus Bontempelli last week

They change week to week, I have played on the taller mids a little bit like 'Bont,' 'Crippa' and those in the past. Scotty knows that and he goes through all the different scenarios.

It wasn't a hard tag on Bont, it was more playing on the wing and it was great to have Rhys back so I got a bit more chop out in the ruck.

I suppose the way I play the wing is a lot different to a lot of the other players in the team, there was just a stoppage focus that if it was on my wing I would go to him. That was just a specific scenario for that game, against him.

I enjoy the challenge, I enjoy the different roles within the game as well and no doubt my role this week will be different.
