Meeza Humphries on the design process
We started the process probably around a year ago now.
We have got a few memories come up from our sketches at the start, a bit different.
It was a long process but we worked really hard with the Geelong marketing team, the graphics team and with Cotton on so that was pretty cool. We worked together with a lot of the family too.
Meeza Humphries on designing the Cats 2025 First Nations Guernsey
I am really proud, not only that Lawson gets to wear the design but that it represents our whole family.
That is what the inspiration was in the end, wanting to represent our family.
Meeza Humphries on what inspired the design
Lawson and I have always been back and forth from the Kimberleys to the Pilbara, living in Wickham and we grew up in Broome for a little bit.
I think for me the most important thing that I wanted to represent was the colours that you see, with the Pindan and the Turquoise.
I really like those colours up there, I think that is a thing that you don't see anywhere else.
For me that is what I really wanted to incorporate, then all the different symbols that we have that are special within our family.
Lawson Humphries on his goal
I was playing the formation and doing the right thing.
It was nice to get up there, I feel like every week I am trying to get there. Usually Zach Guthrie is not giving me the ball or something and I get into him, then get back to the backline.
It was cool to get on the end of one, especially wearing the guernsey was really special. I was stoked to get on the board.
Lawson Humphries on his celebration
It just kind of happened.
Seeing everybody run around the guernsey, we were playing some pretty good footy too I thought and I was happy with how we played.
It was really good, I think we did the jumper really proud and Meeza really proud. It was just a bit of emotion and it had been a really big week, obviously there have been a lot of conversations about it throughout the last week and the announcement of it all.
I was just really grateful that it worked out well and we had a good win, because the jumper means a lot to our family.
Lawson Humphries on his mentors at Geelong
I think Nigel Lappin is the first one, particularly last year when I was trying to get into the side.
He is our development coach and he has done a lot of really good work, and continues to do a lot of really good work with a lot of the younger guys. I think he was really important for me, giving me that confidence that I can play at the next level.
Zach Guthrie is another one, helping me with the defensive formations and teaching me the Geelong way, he was really important in helping me feel like I understand the system that we play. I think that is the most important thing at the Cats, it doesn't matter how many disposals you get, if you are playing the formation the right way that is more important.
'Stewy' as well, he is the general back and sets us up a lot, looking forward to hopefully having him back soon.
