Geelong has swept the coaches votes in their dominant win over the Power, with Bailey Smith moving into second place on the overall leaderboard after topping the votes once again in Round 10.
Smith received nine votes for his display on Saturday afternoon, accumulating 30 disposals, seven clearances and 700 metres gained, while also registering 10 score involvements and going at an impressive 80% disposal efficiency.
Moving to a total of 46 coaches votes for the year, the Cats star recruit now sits second on the overall leaderboard just two votes behind the current leader, North Melbourne's Tristan Xerri.
Jeremy Cameron also featured heavily in the voting in Round 10, awarded eight votes for his stellar seven-goal haul against the Power.
The superstar forward booted two important goals to give the Cats momentum, before slamming home five majors in the final quarter alone to steer Geelong to victory.
Cameron also picked up 16 disposals, eight marks and nine score involvements, featuring in the coaches votes for the second time this year.
Ollie Dempsey has received four coaches votes for his 24 disposal and two goal performance on Saturday, providing outstanding run and carry on the wing all afternoon.
Dempsey's third quarter in particular was very influential registering 11 disposals, six score involvements and 345 metres gained, the most in a quarter for a Geelong player since early in the 2022 season.
Mark Blicavs has featured in the votes for the second consecutive week, also receiving four votes after collecting 16 disposals, 17 hit-outs and five clearances in a dominant display in the ruck.
Mark O'Connor was also recognised for his performance down back, the third Cat to receive four votes in the win over the Power. The Irishman accumulated a career-high 28 disposals and a game-high 10 intercept possessions, doing the bulk of his work in the first half when the game was on the line.
The final Cat to feature in the votes was Gryan Miers, who received his first coaches vote of the season after collecting 27 disposals at 93% efficiency on Saturday afternoon.
The AFL Coaches Association’s AFL Champion Player Award is an award voted by the 18 coaching panels on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis after each home and away game, acknowledging outstanding effort by an individual player in a season.
