Saturday football is headed to GMHBA Stadium, with Geelong Cats set to host three more games on footy’s traditional day after the AFL today released the Fixture for rounds 16-23 of the 2024 AFL Premiership Season.

The Cats will host twilight matches against Hawthorn and Adelaide in Rounds 17 and 21, while playing the Western Bulldogs under lights on Saturday 20 July.

In one of two games at the MCG in the final nine rounds of the season, Geelong and Essendon will face off at the MCG in primetime on Saturday 29 June, with a game against Collingwood in a Friday night blockbuster on Friday 12 July.

Round 24 remains a floating fixture across the weekend of August 23-25, with the AFL set to confirm days and times later in the season.

Geelong Cats Chief Strategy and Growth Officer Marcus King said the Club welcomed the exciting eight-week fixture block.

“We welcome the AFL fixture release today, with a great mix of timeslots for our home games, including two Saturday twilight games, allowing families and a broad cross-section of our fans to attend.

“While we love playing at GMHBA Stadium, we’re also looking forward to another home game at the MCG when we host Essendon in Round 16. We would have loved a Saturday twilight timeslot for this match, however we appreciate the complexities of the fixture, and we are pleased we were still able to land on a marquee timeslot.

“From a performance perspective, its pleasing to have consistent turnaround times between games, with only one six day break, and seven of our nine games to be played in Victoria.

“With over 80,000 members, and counting, across the country, we’re looking forward to the remainder of the season and the incredible atmosphere and energy our Geelong faithful bring to gameday,” King said.
