Geelong captain Patrick Dangerfield has capped off week one of the 2024 AFL season with a perfect ten votes from the coaches.

Dangerfield was at his blistering best on Saturday night, picking up 25 disposals, eight clearances, laid ten tackles and kicked the match sealing goal late in Saturday night's thrilling eight point win over the Saints.  Add in his nine score involvements and nine inside 50s, and it was a vintage Dangerfield performance.

Jeremy Cameron kicked two classic Cameron highlight-worthy goals, and added 21 touches and seven marks to earn seven votes, while Max Holmes (6), Mark Blicavs (3), Tom Atkins (1) and Ollie Dempsey (1) rounded out the Cats best according to Chris Scott and Ross Lyon.

The AFL Coaches Association’s AFL Champion Player Award is an award voted by the 18 coaching panels on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis after each home and away game, acknowledging outstanding effort by an individual player in a season.
