Patrick Dangerfield and Tom Stewart will again lead the Cats into the 2024 season as captain, and vice captain respectively.

Dangerfield became Geelong’s 54th VFL/AFL captain last season after sharing the vice captaincy with Stewart in 2022 and having served in the role under former captain Joel Selwood since the 2017 season.

To coincide with the confirmation of the Club’s leaders for 2024, fans who sign up as a 2024 member before the end of January will have the opportunity to win a spot in the team photo alongside Dangerfield and Stewart this February.

Since debuting in 2008, Dangerfield, an 8x All-Australian, has played 321 games, including 167 for Geelong, having won three Carji Greeves Medals (2016, 2017, 2019), a Brownlow Medal (2016), and in 2022 was a key member of the Cats’ 2022 premiership winning team.

Stewart’s leadership potential was also recognised early in his tenure at GMHBA Stadium, joining the Cats leadership team in 2019 after debuting for the Club in 2017.

On the field, Stewart’s resume speaks for itself, having collected five All-Australian blazers, a premiership in 2022, and last season, became a dual Carji Greeves Medallist after averaging 23.2 disposals, 8.3 marks, 8.4 intercepts, and 7.2 rebounds per game, reinforcing his position as one of the game’s elite defenders.
