Andrew Mackie on... Esava Ratugolea

We’ll keep the price to ourselves. It’s up to Port Adelaide to do their thing. They’ve tried to convince a player to go there, so from our end we’ve invested a lot into him, 25 years of age, key position (player), so it’s up to them to work through what he’s worth.

I think he likes our group, we’ve invested in him, he’s played senior footy this year and sees a pathway forward. We understand the situation, but as I said, it’s up to the teams talking to him to do something about it if they feel he’s the right fit for them

Andrew Mackie on... Pick 7

We’re open to (trading) it.

What the last week at the Combine did reinforce is that it’s a great bunch of kids, in particular that group, and where that pick does sit for us, we’re confident about that.

But we are open to it. We’ve had some chats with some teams around what that might look like, and we’ll stay open to it, it’s just going to have to be pretty good to get us out of that position.

Andrew Mackie on... This Year vs. Last Year

We always look for different ways to improve our list, and obviously, there’s the trade period, free agency, there’s lots of different ways you can do that, including the draft.

So sitting here last year we had a bit going on with players we wanted to bring in, we probably knew this year was going to be a bit quieter off the back of that, you can’t do that every year. But there are all sorts of ways you can improve your list and we do look at different positional contingencies.

Andrew Mackie on... Brandan Parfitt

He's staying at Geelong and we’re really happy that he is.

We often talk about the age demographic for us and he’s in a really sweet spot for that. Clearly, he’s one of those guys that we’d love to make get to that next level, and Brandan’s open to that. And we’re open to try and help him get there.

We’d love for him to turn into a really bona fide AFL player for us and to be fair he’s shown he can do that, it’s just doing it on a more consistent basis, but he’s got plenty of upside, and looking forward to what that looks like for him.
