Star Geelong defender Tom Stewart was recognised for his efforts against GWS Giants in Round 10 with five votes from the coaches.

Stewart was the only Cat to feature in the AFL Coaches' Association Champion Player of the Year votes following the loss, standing tall for the Cats with a stellar performance.

The Cats' acting captain had an equal game-high 31 disposals - the third-highest tally of his 136-game career to date - and game-highs for metres gained (783) and intercept possessions (12), as well as nine marks, six inside 50s and five score involvements.
