All Australian Cat Tim Kelly is just days away from a decision on his future as he weighs up life at the Cattery with the lure of home.

Kelly’s agent Anthony Van Der Wielen told SEN Breakfast Kelly had yet to decide on where he wants his football future to play out.

“We should have a decision out of him over the next week or so,” he said.

“He’s still grappling with it. He’s got some real genuine family concerns that he’d like to get home for.

“He also enjoys playing at the Geelong footy club. So, he’s grappling with all that at the moment. I’m in talks with Geelong all the time and Tim all the time.”

Geelong recruiting and list manager Stephen Wells said while the Cats were hopeful Kelly will opt to remain in the hoops, the club had done its due diligence to prepare for all outcomes.

“We haven’t officially been told anything about Tim requesting a trade,” Wells told SEN Breakfast.

“All the conversations we’ve had over the course of the year with Anthony Van Der Wielen and Tim have been we should prepare as if he is going to be requesting a trade, but right now nothing official has happened.

“We haven’t been encouraging West Coast or Fremantle in any way to try and convince Tim to go home. We’ve been offering contracts to Tim all along as well.”

Wells says part of those preparations has involved preliminary discussions with both the Dockers and West Coast, with one side in a better position to make a deal at this point in time.

“We have had some conversations about if there was to be a deal done, how it might look,” Wells said.

“All the conversations with both clubs have been very good, I get on well with the people at those clubs and it’s not just me either from our end, we’ve got a list management group that involves Brian Cook, Simon Lloyd and Chris Scott as well.

“If it does turn out that Tim requests a trade, and we hope that doesn’t happen, but if it does all we’re looking for is a good and fair deal.”

“If you look at the ladder, one team has better picks than another team. A more satisfactory deal for our club, or any club with any player at any time, would be the better picks I would imagine.”

“It does come into play and I guess we’ll deal with that once we hear from Tim officially one way or the other.”
