Brian Cook will continue as CEO of the Geelong Football Club until the end of 2021 after agreeing to a further one year contract extension with the club.

Geelong Football Club President Colin Carter praised the work Cook has undertaken, and is looking forward to continuing the partnership between Cook and the Cats.

“The next stage of the redevelopment at GMHBA Stadium is scheduled to begin soon, and given Brian’s experience and relationships with key stakeholders and government officials, his steady hand will be important in ensuring this hugely important project proceeds smoothly.  

“We know that Brian is one of the premier sporting administrators in Australia and we look to him, along with the club’s executive, to deal with the challenges ahead as we strive for continued success in all aspects of the club.”

Cook is looking forward to continuing the journey as the club seeks even more success in the next two years.

“To have the continued support of the board, the management and staff is a reflection on the efforts we all undertake on behalf of our supporters and members. We should be rightly proud of what we have achieved, but we are always looking forward to what is next and will continue to work together for the betterment of the club.”

During his tenure at Geelong, the football program has been one of the best in the industry The club has contested the finals in 14 of the past 16 seasons, winning premierships in 2007, 2009 and 2011. Off-field, the club has raised $300 million to fund five redevelopments of GMHBA Stadium, philanthropic donations of more than $16m have been raised, membership has increased to over 66,000, and the club’s community programs have increased their scope and effectiveness.
