AFLW: Chantel Emonson at training for Geelong in October.

New Cats recruit Chantel Emonson will add experience to Geelong’s playing group in season six.

Emonson joins the team having played 22 games at the Melbourne Football Club, making her the most experienced of the Club’s nine new recruits.

The 28-year-old joined Geelong during this year’s sign and trade period, saying the Cats’ young and developing list is what attracted her to GMHBA Stadium.

“I think Geelong’s got a great young list... that’s what really jumped out at me,” explained Emonson.

“It’s really exciting to see this group of girls and where they can head to… I think that was something that really jumped out at me, when my decision was made.”

The young Cats have lived up to the hype with a number of these players standing out to the former Demon.

“Liv Fuller is one that’s been really impressive," she said.

“She hasn’t played too much football in her background ... but I think so far she’s been really good on the track and I’m looking forward to seeing what she can produce next season.

“I’m really looking forward to playing with Nina (Morrison). Nina’s been tearing it up off the track, so I’m looking forward to her return.”

With a number of new players, coaches and staff members, Emonson says the group’s potential is unknown, which is an exciting prospect for Cats fans.

“I’m just looking forward to getting out there and hopefully we can get a few wins on the board," she said.

“I guess we’ve had lots of changes in the off season, which is really exciting.

“At the same time we don’t know what our potential is, but we’re really looking forward to it.”
