COACH Chris Scott spoke to media on Thursday ahead of Geelong's semi final clash with Greater Western Sydney at Optus Stadium on Friday night.
Here are some of his main messages ahead of the must win clash, presented by Morris Finance.
Scott on Cats being placed to perform well...
We are in the business of moving forward and looking at the next challenge. We have been able to do that pretty well this week. As we've said for the last 18 months, we've embraced the opportunity to spend some time together and prepare as well as we can, and we think we've done that this week and we leave ourselves well placed to perform well.
Scott on if he's concerned about having less than 50 Inside 50s in recent weeks...
It's a concern. I think one of the things that was disappointing and there were many things in our performance last week was that we didn't get very effective entries and the ball bounced out of there pretty easily which made it hard to get it in there again. Those things all fit together. Statically across the season we've been a good contested team and a good stoppage team which generally leads to higher inside 50s, but it doesn't speak all that much to the quality and I thought that the quality was down but having said that you need your pressure and ability to compete in there to be at a really high level if the quality of your entries are low and we had both those negatives come together at once last week.

Scott on Jeremy Cameron playing against his former side...
He's a relaxed character and has a lot of confidence in his ability, but he's certainly not one I'd describe as a player that gets overawed by the moment. He knows those guys well but I think its good theatre playing against your old team, but it really does pale into insignificance when comparing it to the opportunity for our team. We could choose to focus on a whole range of things but I don't think any of them are going to be as important as embracing the opportunity we've got. We know that the scrutiny and stakes are higher at this time of year and that's something you've got no choice but to lead into if you want to perform well and I think Jeremy is symbolic of that for us.
Scott on how a narrowed focus could assist Patrick Dangerfield...
I'm not exactly sure it applies to Pat, but there is a scenario where you just build yourself up so much and you want something so badly that it can result in negative behaviours or actions. Let's assume it's true, then a good message for Pat would be to just narrow his focus on what he does well, and think less about the outcome and time of year, and just narrow his focus down to what makes him a super player. He knows how highly we rate him and my support for him won't diminish, no matter what happens.
Scott on Selwood's Games Record and if it has any impact on player's intent...
I'd be disappointed if we need something like that to bring the requisite level of effort. I think the stakes are high enough that the effort becomes a secondary issue to be honest. It is a great achievement for Joel. I've got to say I am getting a little bored as he seems to be breaking a record every week at the moment.. I am only joking. It is a fantastic effort and he has been a super player for us but what he wants from his teammates and the team as a collective is to do everything we can to play as well as we can for the team rather than the giver.
