The Draft Class of 2020: Stephanie Williams, Olivia Barber, Darcy Moloney, Carly Remmos and Laura Gardiner.

The Geelong Cats hold an enviable hand of selections heading in the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft on Tuesday night.

The Cats’ four picks are all in the first round, with three in the top 10, as they prepare to welcome the newest draftees to GMHBA Stadium.

The women’s draft is a state-based draft, meaning prospective players can only be selected by a team in state they have nominated for.

Because of this, the Cats’ first pick, number 2 overall, will be the first pick in the Victorian pool, and all four picks fall in the top 10 for Victoria.

During the sign and trade period, the Cats traded picks 20 and 37 as part of the deals that saw them land Chloe Scheer from Adelaide and Chantel Emonson from Melbourne.

As part of their assistance package from the AFL, the Cats were also able to sign two mature-age recruits from the AFL Barwon region ahead of the draft, which they used to add VFLW Cats Claudia Gunjaca and Olivia Fuller to the club’s AFLW list.

The Cats have also signed their first international AFLW player, welcoming Mayo Gaelic footballer Rachel Kearns as an Other Sport Rookie.

The 2021 NAB AFLW Draft will take place at 6.45pm on Tuesday, July 27 in a virtual format, and can be viewed on womens.afl and the AFLW Official App.
