Geelong midfielder Sam Menegola has agreed to a contract extension that will take him through to the end of the 2023 season.
Menegola enjoyed his best season, finishing sixth in the Cats best and fairest and earning a berth in the All Australian 40 player squad.
He played every game in 2020 and averaged 21 disposals per game. Menegola had the fourth most possessions and marks in the AFL this year. He finished with 445 disposals and 188 marks.
“Sam is an important player for us and he has turned himself into a player who is strong inside the contest as a midfielder and hard running on the outside as an influential winger,” Geelong’s general manager of football Simon Lloyd said.
“Sam works as hard as any player and his dedication to his fitness and his craft has paid off. Sam has exceptional skills and bravery and is a professional in every sense of the word. It’s great for all parties that we have been able to agree to this extension.”
Menegola has played 86 games and kicked 64 goals with the Cats since debuting in 2016. Before joining Geelong, Menegola had stints at Hawthorn and Fremantle.
