Premier function Fare on the Field returns in 2020 bigger and better than ever.

Held in a new twilight timeslot, the event will once again take place on the pristine surface of GMHBA Stadium.

Now in its third year, the theme of this year’s function is courage.

Headlining the event is 2015 Australian of the Year Rosie Batty AO.

Batty became synonymous with courage following the death of her 11-year-old son Luke in 2014 at the hands of her former partner.

Since the tragic event Batty spent her time tirelessly sharing her story in an effort to shine a light on domestic violence.

Her efforts have seen her named as Australian of the Year (2015), honoured with the Pride of Australia’s national Courage Medal and last year awarded Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to the community.

Batty will be joined by an outstanding panel of must-see speakers including Krystal Barter, Bec Connolly and Amie Rohan who will share their inspiring stories at this not to be missed event.

Guest Panel:

Krystal Barter

Barter is the founder of Pink Hope, a non-for-profit organisation that educates and helps prevent hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.

At 21-years-of-age Barter discovered she carried the gene for breast cancer and made the difficult decision to go through with a preventative double mastectomy.

Ten years later the mother-of-one took the next step and had her fallopian tubes and one ovary removed to reduce her risk of ovarian cancer.

Barter shared her story in her memoir titled ‘The Lucky One - story of love, courage and transformation.’

Bec Connolly

Connolly is a skin therapist with over 14 years’ experience and in 2018 the Geelong local developed her own skincare range - Botanicals by Luxe.

Just prior to marrying her partner, Connolly was diagnosed with endometriosis and consequently her and her husband struggled to start a family.

Despite experiencing heartache on a number of occasions, the couple were blessed with two sons Oliver and Jack.

In 2019 Connolly was an ambassador for mental health campaign Liptember and used her profile to share her struggles with post-natal anxiety.

Amie Rohan

Rohan is the partner of Geelong Cats player Gary Rohan.

The high-school sweethearts from Cobden married in 2016 and a year later discovered that Amie was pregnant with twins.

Their joy quickly subsided when they discovered at 12 weeks that one of their twins had anencephaly, incurable neural tube defect that wouldn’t allow their child to survive once she was born.

In April 2018 the couple welcomed baby Bella into the world, whilst agonisingly saying goodbye to her twin sister.

Amie has shared her story of courage and strength and recently discovered that she is pregnant for a second time, with their couple awaiting the arrival of a sibling for daughter Bella later this year.
