The Geelong Cats will add two additional coaches to its AFLW program, welcoming Scott Thompson and Josh Finch to the coaching panel.

The pair will join head coach Paul Hood, assistants Natalie Wood and Tom Stewart and development coach David Morgan.

“We are always looking to strengthen our program, and Scott and Josh are excellent coaches to bring on board,” Cats AFLW coach Paul Hood said.

“Scott has enjoyed a great career at AFL level, and this is his first step into the coaching ranks. He has a strong connection to the club through his time early in his career, and he will bring a wealth of knowledge to our team.

“Josh has been a great player locally and has moved into the coaching ranks with success. His work at Modewarre and in our next generation academy has been first class and we are excited to welcome him to the club.”

Thompson, who will serve as an assistant coach, returns to the Cats after a stellar career with North Melbourne. He played 241 games with the Roos, earning best & fairest and All Australian honours in his 12 years at the club. His Cats’ ties go back to 2006 when he joined the club’s VFL program, earning a premiership medal in 2007.

Finch beefs up the Cats’ development coaching stocks. A champion player with Modewarre, Finch earned six best & fairests, four Les Ash medals as Bellarine League best & fairest, Victoria country representation and a premiership medal. He was one of the coaches working the Cats next generation academy in 2019.
