Geelong has selected Jordan Clark at selection 15 in the 2018 NAB National Draft.

Clark is an attacking half-back who sets up the play with his daring ball use and smart decisions.

It's been a fruitful year for Clark, who gave away dreams of playing cricket for Australia to instead focus on his football.

Geelong talent ID manager Troy Selwood says Clark’s cricketing background left him in an interesting position.

“Jordan’s a really interesting prospect, he’s had far less exposure compared to the other boys at the top end of the draft,” Selwood says.

“He was a player we had a little bit less data on from an athletic perspective, then when he got to the draft combine he did a really great job to show us he’s going to develop into a really nice athlete as well, so when you put that together you think there’s a lot of upside and I think he’s got a big future in the AFL.”

Clark could face a delayed start to the pre-season after recently being diagnosed with glandular fever, but has plenty to offer the Cats.

“He’s a traditional half back flanker, a really attacking half back flanker. He backs his decisions to read the ball, come off the man, and when he gets the ball in his hands he really takes the game on,” Selwood says.

“What we really liked about Jordy throughout the year was his ability to rise to the level at every occasion. Whether it be the U18 Champions or WAFL reserves and then into the WAFL seniors at the end of the year.”
