Geelong has wrapped up a scintillating home-and-away season with an 11th consecutive victory, defeating the Western Bulldogs by 68 points at GMHBA Stadium on Friday night.

It was billed as a high stakes clash with both teams jostling for position heading into Finals, but the Cats produced a decisive first half of football to put the result beyond reach, building a 44-point lead by the main break off the back of a run of eight unanswered goals.

Heading into the night, Geelong needed 86 points to become the highest scoring team in a home-and-away season across the history of the AFLW, eclipsing the total set by North Melbourne last year late in the final quarter, symbolising their incredible campaign to date.

The spearhead forwards continued to do their thing with Jackie Parry, Chantal Mason and Chloe Scheer combining to kick ten goals.

Amy McDonald (30 disposals, nine clearances) led the charge through the middle of the ground, Georgie Prespakis (29 disposals, eight clearances) was at her brilliant best once again, while Aishling Moloney (12 score involvements) showcased her traditional Irish flair to set-up numerous scoring opportunities for teammates.

The opening term was a quarter of footy that was fitting for a match with so much at stake, both teams bringing plenty of intensity and pressure early, but the Cats were able to make a late break on the scoreboard as they opened up a 20-point lead at the first break.

Chloe Scheer made the most of her opportunities with two pure set-shot finishes, while Georgie Prespakis was up to her usual tricks with 11 disposals and four score involvements in the first quarter alone.

After only kicking one goal through the opening 14 minutes of the match, the Cats well and truly put the foot down and made significant inroads into the AFLW scoring record, piling on eight unanswered goals through the second quarter.

By the time the siren sounded for half time, Geelong had extended their lead to 44 points, making quite the statement against a side with top-four aspirations coming into the night.

The stat sheet told the story, with the Cats leading nearly every major statistical category at the main break, including the disposal count (+95), the inside 50s (26-6), the clearance battle (20-8) and the uncontested possession count (103-26).

Prespakis, Mikayla Bowen and Amy McDonald combined for 50 disposals and 10 clearances in the opening half to completely control the midfield battle, Aishling Moloney created plenty of opportunities with seven score involvements, while Julia Crockett-Grills provided plenty of drive with a game-high 246 metres gained.

Already in full command of the match, Geelong continued to press onwards in the third term and found ample opportunities inside 50, stretching the margin to 51 points at the final change.

With the result already in hand, all eyes turned to the scoreboard as the Cats chased the AFLW scoring record, with Parry the one to break the record with her fifth goal of the night.

Geelong closed out a 68-point win, securing a top-two spot and will now wait to see who they will host in next week's Qualifying Final.
