In their first AFLW season, Geelong will be looking to make a statement in their preliminary final against Adelaide this Sunday.

The crows have rampaged through the season, averaging 56 points and losing only one game through the season.

Geelong have shown they are capable of taking a win on the road, with their dismantling of Brisbane in round five by over four goals.

The last time the two teams met, Adelaide won by a margin of 29 points.

However, following this loss, Geelong found some strong form winning their next two games.

Head Coach Paul Hood said finding this form again is key in going up against Adelaide.

“We won both games after we played the crows, so having played them last time we knew that we had to take our game to another level,” Hood said.

“We want to get back to some form, like we played against Carlton.”

Key forward Phoebe McWilliams will be out of the side due to a broken left hand.

This has created a hole in Geelong’s forward line, leaving head coach Paul Hood with an important decision on his hands.

Geelong’s abundance of key forwards may help open the door for a small forward to replace McWilliams.

The final will be played at Adelaide Oval on Sunday 24 March at 12:40pm.
