Rahilly on the key takeaways

It was a really good hit-out.

Obviously we had a pretty inexperienced line-up, so to get a few guys playing some really good footy together and connect was really positive.

It was also warm, we are going to play up on the Gold Coast in Opening Round.

So to get a bit of heat exposure, the high performance guys will be happy. 

Rahilly on which players impressed

Out of the young guys, I thought that Jay Polkinghorne was very good up forward.

Oli Wiltshire was quite good forward as well, Lenny Hofmann is a young boy who played off half back and was quite good. But all the young guys I thought looked pretty strong.

I work with the forwards so Ollie Henry, he has been working really hard on his game.

He was disappointed he wasn't in the team last year, so for him to come out and have a strong performance was good too.

Some young Cats showed promising signs in Geelong's first formal hit-out of the season against Hawthorn in Dingley.

Rahilly on Ollie Henry

I suppose it would hurt for anyone, he is a proud player Ollie and he has been in our team for most of last year and especially the year before.

He went to work, he has really gotten a lot fitter and is covering the ground really well.

He is probably playing a bit higher than he normally does, but you can see how dangerous he can be inside forward 50 and in the air. 

Rahilly on James Worpel

Yeah really good, I thought the mids were pretty strong.

He came up against his old side in Hawthorn, so I thought he was really good.

He has been fantastic since he has come to the club, he is actually a really strong leader.

Waxing with Tom Atkins in there and a few of the others, we obviously have Max [Holmes] and Bailey [Smith] to come back in. It is going to be a pretty strong midfield. 

Rahilly on Jay Polkinghorne

We have probably got at least one spot there, so he definitely put his hand up today.

He competed so well, even when he didn't mark it. He brought the ball to ground, and probably could have kicked a few more that he missed early.

He is another one of our young players that has been working really hard on his craft, it is great that he played well today.
