Scott on what pleased him the most

I think in a game where you feel in the box that most things are going okay, but you can't get a meaningful enough gap on the scoreboard, they are generally the most concerning ones.

Especially when you have such a high respect for what the opposition can do, and obviously a couple of the Rayner goals changed things a little bit.

In that context, given that we were already thinking the game is going well but we are not as far ahead as we would like to be, just the composure to hang in there and make sure we continue playing the game.

I still thought it was alive until pretty late in the last quarter, so the ability to hang in and keep playing the way that we had planned to play, if I had to rate the things I was most pleased with then that would be at number one.

Scott on whether the Cats' composure has improved

I think to a degree it has. I accept that that is true, but I think a lot of the reason for that would be the natural evolution of some of our younger players in particular.

Not only the younger ones, but some of those who haven't had a lot of experience in these big games. Lawson Humphries is in his second year, I think everyone in the world knows now that Shaun Mannagh is 28 but he is still a new player, Connor O'Sullivan.

It is quite a big group of guys, I have got a lot of admiration for the way Shannon Neale has developed and become a really important player for us.

I think the growth of those guys and the confidence they have got in their game has not only helped us generally, but it gives us even more confidence in the big moments that they are not going to be overawed.

Scott on the Geelong faithful

I have been at the Cats for a while, but I don't think I have heard our crowd as engaged as they were.

Maybe that [Rayner incident] was something that sparked them even more, they were almost getting taunted there at one stage.

Even in the box which is pretty well insulated, we could tell that the crowd was up and about.

You wouldn't want to design it that way, but it did add a little bit of extra spice to the game.

Scott on the Cats ability to force turnovers

Well it is the way the play, and last time they played us it was very effective for them.

I think I did hear a stat, I don't get too hung up on the stats and especially live, but it was a big tackling game for us in the first half.

Maybe they contributed to a little bit of that, but I have seen them carve teams up with their hands so I wouldn't describe it as overusing it.

Scott on Jeremy Cameron's hot start

I thought he attacked the game brilliantly.

He is such an important player for us in terms of his flexibility, but he was hot early. He actually missed a couple of shots that you would half expect him to kick, especially the first one.

It is hard to engineer this stuff, it is a bit like stating the obvious, it would be nice if Jez was hot early.

But when he actually is, it energises the rest of the group which was a good sign for us.
