It is all of a sudden crunch time for the Cats in Round 3, looking for their first win of the 2025 AFLW season when they take on Sydney at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Geelong have been competitive against two of the competition's best teams in the opening fortnight of the season, but ultimately they have suffered two defeats and need to build some momentum.
They face a Sydney team that has started the year in red hot form, recording their biggest score and the biggest win in the club's AFLW history last weekend, with star forward Chloe Molloy already sitting four goals clear on top of the competition's goal-kicking leaderboard.
Take a look at all the strengths of Sydney's game and what the Cats need to watch out for on Saturday afternoon.

Deakin Performance Stat of the Week - Scoreboard Conversion
It has been a major issue for Geelong through the opening two weeks, only kicking six goals from 65 inside-50 entries at an average of 9.2% goals per inside 50, the second worst conversion rate of any team in the AFLW.
The AFLW competition wide average through the first two weeks is a 16.9% average, nearly double the Cats average through this point of the year.
Sydney by comparison rank second in the league in this statistic, kicking a goal on 26.7% of their inside 50s, with a total of 23 goals from 86 inside 50 entries.
The Swans kicked the fourth biggest score in the league's history last week (103), closing out an 82-point win over Gold Coast.

Swans Player to Watch - Chloe Molloy
After missing nearly the entire 2024 AFLW season, Molloy has returned with a bang in 2025 helping steer Sydney to two consecutive wins to open their campaign.
The star Swan showed no signs of rust in Round 1 kicking four goals from 14 disposals, backing that with a stunning seven-goal haul in Round 2 against Gold Coast.
Leading the AFLW for goals, score involvements and marks inside 50, Molloy is in hot form and the Cats will need to find a way to limit her impact on Saturday.
Where Geelong Can Improve - Fourth Quarters
It is a bit of a no-brainer for the Cats, but they need to amend their fourth quarter performances and find ways to arrest momentum when it is going against them.
In Round 1 Geelong trailed by six points at three quarter time before conceding three goals in four minutes to the Kangaroos, and five goals total in the final term to fall by 30-points.
Round 2 was much of the same; the Cats led by two points at the final break, conceding seven goals to the Crows in the last quarter and slipping to a 38 point loss.
In total, Geelong have conceded 116 across their first two games and 73 of those have come in fourth quarters, something Dan Lowther and his team will need to rectify against the Swans.
| Round | Geelong's Fourth Quarter Score | Opponent's Fourth Quarter Score | Differential |
| 1 | Cats 1.1 (7) | Kangaroos 5.1 (31) | -24 |
| 2 | Cats 0.2 (2) | Crows 7.0 (42) | -40 |
