After surpassing 90,000 members in 2024, the Geelong Football Club has gone one better in 2025, eclipsing 91,000 members for the first time in the club's history.

Announced at three quarter time during Friday's clash with Essendon, the Cats have exceeded their 2024 membership total of 90,798 and have continued their steady growth, marking the fourth consecutive season that Geelong's membership base has grown.

Geelong Football Club President, Grant McCabe said the milestone was a significant achievement as the Cats AFL and AFLW teams head towards an exciting part of the year.

"We do have some fantastic news and that is, we have now broken our membership record and we are over 91,000 members for 2025," McCabe announced on Friday night.

"So thank-you to all of our members who have contributed to that and remember, AFLW starts this weekend too so there is plenty of time to sign up."

Geelong AFL captain, Patrick Dangerfield mirrored the sentiment and thanked Cats fans for their ongoing loyalty and support.

"It is amazing, it is such an advantage for us down here, turning it into the cauldron that it is," Dangerfield said.

"We are going to need all the help we can get as we head towards September obviously, so a huge thanks to everyone that has signed up as a member."

Geelong's AFLW team are preparing to commence their 2025 campaign, which will kickoff this weekend at GMHBA Stadium against the Kangaroos.

Cats skipper, Meg McDonald touched on the excitement around the group as they set themselves for a blockbuster clash on Saturday afternoon.

"We are super excited, nothing gets me more excited than being here on a game day," McDonald said.

"To think it is our turn next week is really exciting, we are ready to give it a red hot crack.

"We have challenged North Melbourne in the past, it will be a good way to start the season and see how we are going against the best in the business."
