He has been willing to play a variety different roles as the team has required throughout the year, but Jack Bowes is starting to hit a nice vein of form heading into the pointy end of the 2025 season.

Backing up a 24 disposal and two goal performance against Port Adelaide last week, Bowes was again instrumental on Friday night finishing with 24 disposals and three goal assists, registering seven score involvements and four intercept possessions while going at an impressive 83.3% disposal efficiency.

Bowes has spent plenty of time on the wing in recent weeks and has been able to push forward and have an impact, kicking eight goals across his last seven games to go with five goal assists across the past fortnight.

His flexibility within the side has been part of a wider effort from the Cats to increase their versatility in 2025, something that Bowes believes is important in the modern game.

"I am loving my role at the moment," Bowes told Cats Media after the win over the Bombers.

"I am just trying to be a flexible, selfless teammate that is trying to bring others into the game. Hopefully that is helping the team succeed, I am enjoying play on the wing, in the middle, half back or forward, whatever I need to do for the team.

"It is very important [to be versatile], especially in the modern game. You have to be able to play different positions. 'Blitz' for example, Mark O'Connor, Jack Martin who has come into the team.

"It is really important for us, especially when things go wrong or we need to go to Plan B, we need to have people who can play in different positions."

Geelong clinched an important four points on Friday night, solidifying their spot in the top four with just two games remaining in the home and away season.

After building a healthy 37-point buffer at half time, the Cats had to withstand a resurgent Bombers side after the main break with the margin cut back to 20 points on two different occasions.

But Geelong were able to steady and pull away, kicking four of the last five goals to seal a 44-point victory.

Bowes said the game will be a good one to learn from for the Cats, with a big clash against Sydney awaiting next weekend in the penultimate game of the regular season.

"Obviously we were good in patches, still plenty of improvement left in us," Bowes said.

"I thought our pressure around the footy was inconsistent at times, but fortunately we were able to get away with it.

I think we just had to just keep focusing on our game, making sure we are playing the right way. Defending the ground well too, they were able to use it by hand a bit and get it through the corridor and open us up a bit there in the third quarter.

"To be able to counteract that in the last quarter and turn things around, to get the footy going our way was really pleasing.

"I still think we have got so much work to improve on, it is a nine day break now heading into Sydney. That is a great opportunity for us to get our work in on the track, hopefully turn things around to make our game look even better."
