Scott on the early takeaways from Friday night

We were okay in parts, our execution was a bit off.

It sounds a bit picky to come away from a game with so many scoring shots saying that, but the game was really on in the third quarter in particular, we were pinned in our back half.

It didn't feel at that stage like it was a game against a team that don't have any players left, it felt like a pretty high pressure game. Maybe we contributed to that a little bit with the way we played, sometimes that lack of execution can be a bit contagious.

I am probably being a little harsh because when you actually take a breathe and sit back, I suspect our takeaway will be that we have worked really hard to get ourselves in a really good position at this stage of the year.

If every year in October or November someone said this is where you will be in mid August, you would take it for sure.

We feel like we are in good shape, both in terms of the way we have been playing and our availability.

Scott on Jack Henry's injury

Jack Henry was subbed out at half time, he just had a little bit of a tight hamstring.

But the feedback is that he is okay, and it was good to get a little bit of exposure for Mitch Knevitt playing a full game and Jhye Clark coming in as well.

They have both been in great form in our VFL team.

The takeaway is that they said Jack is okay.

Scott on Geelong's ball movement

We potentially overshared the ball a bit.

I suspect there has been a bit of commentary because I have been asked about the Jeremy thing a bit, but I didn't think that was an emphasis on looking for Jeremy necessarily.

That was probably one of the main points I was referring to with our execution. There was a couple of times we had players out inside 50 and just couldn't convert.

It is rarely a problem when you have players that are looking to share the ball, but at half time I did make the point that if you are in the position to kick a goal, just kick it.

Scott on the defensive performance

Tom Stewart is in good form, a really important player for us and he took some intercept marks. There was a couple of times where we broke down a little bit in terms of our system, and he was able to scrap and kill a couple of contests where he was clearly out of position.

The one that should excite Geelong supporters is Connor O'Sullivan.

He is just growing with each game he plays and his confidence to jump at the ball.

It is exciting for us to sit back and think that he and Sam De Koning can play together for another 10 or 15 years. That would be a pretty good combination based on what we are seeing at the moment.
