Darby on the takeaways from Geelong's match simulation

It was so good. Obviously it is a very long off season, long pre season before getting into it.

We have been doing some match play for a fair while now, but just to be able to get out there and play against some opposition, to put a few things that we have practiced into a game was really nice.

We got a lot of positive things out of it, but the best part about it is we have got a lot of things that we can iron out and try to work on this coming weekend.

It was a really good hit-out.

Darby on what impressed her the most

I think it was a really good, even contribution around the team which was exciting.

One thing that sticks out for me is one of our newer players, Emma Kilpatrick, she really showed some great signs.

Obviously we have seen them on the training track but for her to be able to get out there in her first hit-out in an AFLW game, it was so exciting.

To see young players like that coming through and showing their colours was really good for the group.

Darby on her role

It was nice to have a bit of time down forward.

I am lucky that I have got the ability to have a couple of roles, to see whatever I can do for the team on the day.

To be able to hit the scoreboard was nice and then moving forward, whatever that looks like I am happy to go wherever I am required.

I will just do my best to do the role on the day.

Darby on the forward connection

I feel like as a forward group, we were only just reflecting that this time last year we probably felt a little bit clunky in terms of our structure and movement together.

That feels like it is coming along so much better now, the movement feels so much more natural. We are better at working together as a group and playing for each other.

Really role specific, we are doing more things to make sure each other gets into the game.

I feel like that came out a bit on the weekend, and hopefully even more so this weekend as well.
