Geelong is mourning the loss of former player Howard Hawking who passed away earlier this month at the age of 91.
Hawking played 11 games for the Cats across the 1954 and 1955 seasons under legendary coach Reg Hickey after debuting for the club as a 20 year old against Hawthorn at Glenferrie Oval in Round 5, 1954.
In 1956, Hawking was recognised as Geelong’s Reserves Best and Fairest player and finished second overall in the League award before going on to have a long, and distinguished career in regional football where he won a host of awards, including being named in the Goulburn Valley Football League Team of the Century.
