The Bendigo Bank Cats have defeated Williamstown, 66 to 54 in their third win of the season.

In an up and down match the final score finished as 10.6 (66) to 6.18 (54).

Williamstown dominated the inside 50s during the first quarter but still trailed as Geelong kicked four straight goals for the term.

Three of Geelong’s first four goals came thanks to notable inclusion Lachlan Waddell who finished the game with 5 marks and 3 tackles as well.

The second and third terms bounced back and forth with neither team dominating contested ball or inside 50s until Geelong scored back-to-back goals to pull away.

In the final quarter Williamstown threatened to take the lead but a settling goal from Nick Stevens halted their run and sealed the Cats victory.

Geelong finished behind in disposals, inside 50s and clearances but still managed to get the four points.

Gary Rohan played his first game of footy for the year, playing mostly forward, after spending a few weeks on the sideline.

VFL-listed guns Jye Chalcraft (22 disposals, 7 marks, 6 tackles) and captain Matt Ling (22 disposals, 8 marks) were fantastic and provided plenty of grit in the contest.

Meanwhile Cooper Stephens (22 disposals, 6 marks, 6 clearances) and Mitch Knevitt (20 disposals, 6 marks, 4 tackles) continued their solid form.

Geelong’s next match will come against North Melbourne’s VFL side at Arden Street, Saturday, May 7 at 3:05pm.
