One of the competition's most exciting emerging players, Purcell claimed her maiden AFLW All-Australian guernsey in 2020 to go with the Cats' best and fairest. It continued a stunning rise after she finished second in the Cats' award in her debut 2019 campaign. The 20-year-old, who previously played locally for St Mary's, averaged 20 disposals per match after a shoulder surgery in August 2019 threatened to delay her start to the season.
