Geelong will welcome another VFLW Cat onto its AFLW list, after selecting emerging midfielder Annabel Johnson with pick 15 in the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft on Tuesday night.

Johnson has been a strong performer in the VFLW this season, playing a key role on the wing on many occasions, including best-on-ground performances against Port Melbourne in Round 4, and the Western Bulldogs in Round 9.

She has been one of the Cats’ most consistent players in 2021, is clean with the ball and does not waste opportunities. Johnson is not afraid to use her body in a contest, and adds speed when she plays on a wing.

Johnson averaged 12.5 disposals and 2.9 marks a game during the home and away season, as well as 4.9 clearances and 2.4 inside 50s.

Johnson joins VFLW teammates Claudia Gunjaca and Olivia Fuller as recent recruits to the Cats’ AFLW team, after the latter pair were signed on as mature-age recruits last week.
