The VFLW is back this weekend, so Cats captain Michelle Fedele is back to give her insights heading into a big game against Hawthorn.

What are you most excited about for this week’s game:

I think just being able to resume our season, to be honest. We’ve put in a lot of hard work and sacrifice prior to and during the season.

To be able to continue and show what we’re capable of doing – we’re in a pretty privileged position in the scheme of things.

What has been the silver lining of the last few weeks:

Unfortunately, the last time the siren went four weeks ago, it was a defeat against Carlton. I’m sure the team has had a good opportunity to digest what things worked and what things didn’t work well on the day.

I’m sure the time away has instilled what we want to achieve and, individually, identify what we need to build upon.

There’s no room for complacency in this team, and to see the girls come back in great form and enthusiastic from being away shows how determined we are individually and as a team.

The Cats’ player to watch:

Claudia Gunjaca. Our acting captain has been such a presence whether playing forward or back

I just have a feeling she’s going to tear the game apart with her contested marking ability and her goal sense with the support of the girls around her.

How the Cats can beat the Hawks:

We’ve focused on our ball movement going forward. We’re not going to overcomplicate things.

A message to the team:

This is the time to be a little more focused, a little more strong, a little more brave.

We just have to keep ticking off the things that we’re trying to implement at training. When we do, we’re a really hard team to beat.
