Scans have confirmed Geelong’s Olivia Purcell has ruptured the ACL in her right knee.

Purcell sustained the injury during the second quarter of Friday night’s loss to Richmond at GMHBA Stadium.

Geelong’s Head of AFLW Brett Johnson said the club will offer their full support to the 20-year-old midfielder.

“We are so disappointed, this isn’t the news we hoped to hear. We will wrap our arms around Liv and continue to support her,” Johnson said.

“We know she will tackle this challenge with strength and determination.”

The club’s AFLW medical team will work to determine Purcell’s surgery and rehabilitation plan in the coming days.
