A football club is made up of many characters and Harry Taylor is certainly one of the more ‘bizarre’ according to teammate Zach Tuohy.

Speaking on this week’s podcast, Tuohy is joined by Cameron Ling and Scott Gullan to look back and share some of the quirky stories that we all know and love ahead of Harry’s 250th game.

“We love him because he is different and this is in a genuinely positive way, and we laugh at him and he knows we laugh at him,” Gullan said.

From the ham incident, to his love of history and cognac, to his unusual preparation and recovery methods - Taylor’s quirkiness is one of his many endearing features that has made him a popular figure amongst teammates and supporters.

The Ham incident

Crows forward Josh Jenkins nearly missed the game after suffering from a bad case of gastro after eating ham during the week prior.

So, Harry played an entire match with a small piece of ham in his sock so he could pass it to Josh post-match.

“He shook my hands and when we separated there was ham in my hand - I wasn’t getting too close to it… I was going to throw up,” Jenkins said post-match at the time.

The Milkman

A Taylor-made recovery method. It is no secret that Harry Taylor loves milk. In fact, he drinks at least two litres every day!

While most player’s post-game can be seen with a Gatorade, Taylor’s preferred method is milk.

“It’s good for your bones I guess... This is it; this is Harry, I don’t know why but he will find a weird system that works for him and he will just rock it,” said Tuohy.

Harry did explore camel’s milk but was put off by the price.

Celebrate good times

Whether its pushing forward to kick a goal or running a victory lap… one thing that comes natural to Harry is celebrating.

“I like to do what comes natural to me… There have been some weird ones over the years but when you don’t kick all that many goals, it is something worth celebrating and as a defender at heart it is always nice to push down and get a goal,” Taylor said.
