TOM Stewart didn’t miss a beat in his return on Saturday night playing a starring role in Geelong’s 28-point victory against the Western Bulldogs at GMHBA Stadium.

The 29-year-old slotted straight back into his familiar defensive post and had an immediate impact with 22 disposals (91% efficiency), 10 marks and seven intercepts to be named in Geelong’s best.

"I thought he was super. The risk with Stewy is he's just such a proud player and he's just so desperate to come back and have an impact that he might try and do too much,” senior coach Chris Scott said post-game.

“I just thought he stayed really disciplined and played the role that we asked him and had a big impact on the game.”

After missing four games on the sidelines Stewart was pleased to be back out there with his teammates.

“The boys have been playing awesome without me, so it was just good to be able to slot straight back in. It was awesome to be back out there,” Stewart told Seven broadcast post-game.

Geelong will return to GMHBA Stadium in a week’s time to host St Kilda on Saturday night from 7.25pm.
