While most Cats fans were tucked up in bed dreaming September dreams after Geelong’s win over the Bulldogs, one of the key shapers of his side’s second-half prospects was on his way back to Marvel Stadium after a fruitless hunt for a set of lost car keys.

Speaking with SEN on Saturday morning, Smith detailed how his night went from Geelong to Melbourne, to Geelong, and back to Melbourne looking for his lost keys that had somehow ended up in Jeremy Cameron’s footy bag, the big forward not content with only wrecking the night of Bulldogs fans everywhere.

Smith tells the story:

“I’ve lost the car keys (after the game), so I couldn’t find the car keys, then I’m asking the boys, ‘has anyone got my car keys’?

“No one could find them, so I had to get my sister to come and pick me up, I’ve driven back to Geelong, picked up the spare keys, and gone back to Marvel (Stadium) at 3am to get the car out.

“(Then) they wouldn’t let me get the car out because they couldn’t open the boom gate, and then I looked to find my air pods, because you can find that on your phone, and they’re at Jeremy Cameron’s farm.

“So my keys and my AirPods are sitting in Jeremy Cameron’s bag.”

So if SEN were looking for the standard post-game rundown with one of the Cats’ prime movers, they were about to be disappointed.

“To be honest, I haven’t spoken about the game, looked at the game, reviewed the game, I’m not sure what’s happened,” he laughed.

“I think at about 4.30am I shut the eyes for a couple of hours and then the little one was up at about 7am.”
