WGEA Employer Statement – Geelong Football Club, February 2024
The Geelong Football Club continues its commitment to gender equality within our organisation, our industry, and throughout our society.
Our commitment goes beyond compliance, to invest in and accelerate women within our organisation, by building processes to attract, recruit, and retain women and gender-diverse people in the full range of roles across our Club.
The current gender pay gap of 25% in our median total remuneration, as compared to the 21.7% national average, is largely driven by differences in our football programs. We understand the role we play as a Club in closing the gender pay gap and helping to address the barriers that have existed for equal participation in our sport.
Our Gender Equality Framework outlines key metrics and focus areas that will continue over the coming years, with activities that have a deliberate focus on women’s progression, annual monitoring of pay equality, as well as recruitment and retention metric analysis.
We are proud to have continued to progress our investment in integration, and championing of gender pay equality for the betterment of our Club and our sport. As a result of more women in our senior leadership roles over the past year, our WGEA data shows progress towards the goals within our Framework.
But there is still more work to be done by our Club and the broader sporting industry. We recognise the unique role sport can play in effecting societal change and the responsibility we have to our Geelong community as it advances.
The Geelong Football Club is compliant with the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 (Act) for the 2022-23 reporting period.
