“EXCRUCIATINGLY close.”

That’s how close Charlie Constable came to a round one debut against the Demons in the words of Chris Scott.

On the back of those words, the first-year Cat has told K rock that he hopes to break into the Geelong side in the coming weeks.

“…It’s a great incentive to keep working hard,” he said.

“Hopefully, if I’m that close, I can work my way into the team in the next few weeks and make a spot my own.”

Constable still got a taste of the big stage, selected as the non-playing emergency for the MCG clash.

“They said we’d love you to just be the carryover emergency yesterday so there was another inside mid ready to go if the conditions were a bit [wet].”

“But they’ve definitely indicated I’ve been going not too badly, and, hopefully, if things fall my way I can play in the next couple of weeks.”
