With a host of new names thrown into the Geelong midfield mix, Josh Caddy is prepared to fight tooth and nail to ensure his position in the centre square.

Now in his sixth season, the 23-year-old has been noticeably physical at all times this summer and is not about to make any apologies for throwing his weight around.

“At the end of the day, you’re fighting for a spot against these guys and that’s what it’s going to be like,” Caddy admitted.

“There’s really tough competition for a spot for everyone.”

“[You] don’t want to hurt anyone at the same time though so it’s a bit of a fine line.”

And whilst the midfield is where he’d like to call home, Caddy recognises he and his fellow on-ballers will need further strings to their bow in a world of fewer rotations.

“I’m hopefully going to be that midfielder that goes forward at times – along with Paddy [Dangerfield], Joel [Selwood] in the last few years has kicked some goals,” Caddy said.

“You’ve just got to be able to go and play a different position and I think for me that’s as a forward.”
