1. Round 9, 1989, MCG:
Geelong 32.19 (211) def Richmond 10.17 (77)
This game was all about Gary Ablett Snr. The great man started on the wing, then ran riot after being moved to full-forward. Ablett finished with 26 kicks, 14 marks, four handballs and 14 goals as the Cats won by 134 points.

2. Round 6, 2007, Etihad Stadium:
Geelong 35.12 (222) def Richmond 9.11 (65)
The Cats were under the pump after losing three of their first five matches. Such was the disenchantment among some Geelong supporters, there were calls for the senior coach, Mark Thompson, to get the sack. But Thompson's men responded by igniting their charge towards a drought-breaking premiership with an incredible mauling of the Tigers. The Cats led 20.6 to 2.7 at half-time, and if they hadn't backed off in the final quarter they would have broken every record in the book.

Cats great Cameron Mooney will look back at this match in this week's edition of Thirsty Camel Throwback Thursdays.

3. Round 22, 2005, Simonds Stadium:
Geelong 10.9 (69) def Richmond 10.8 (68)
The Cats led by 26 points at the last change, then stopped to a walk as Terry Wallace's Tigers booted 4.2 to 0.1 in the final quarter. The final seconds were a mad scramble, but Geelong held on to win by the narrowest of margins. Steve Johnson and Darren Milburn each booted two goals.

4. Round 5, 1996, Simonds Stadium:
Geelong 13.13 (91) def Richmond 12.16 (88)
Little separated the teams all afternoon, but the Cats held on to win a thrilling encounter by three points. Bill Brownless finished with four goals, while Peter Riccardi kicked three. Liam Pickering tallied 29 disposals, while Garry Hocking gathered 28 touches.

5. Round 3, 1992, Simonds Stadium:
Geelong 29.24 (198) def Richmond 11.6 (72)
As was par for the course during the late 1980s and most of the 1990s, the Cats demolished a young Tigers outfit (this one coached by legendary former Hawthorn and St Kilda boss Allan Jeans). What was interesting about this game was that it wasn't Gary Ablett Snr doing most of the damage up forward. Ablett booted only three of Geelong's 29 goals. Instead it was little man Robert Scott who carved up Richmond, booting seven goals, while Tim Darcy kicked six and Paul Brown five.
