Geelong has sent a signal to the rest of the VFL after smashing Port Melbourne by 85 points at Simonds Stadium.

The Cats never looked troubled despite the fact it went into the game with just 8 AFL listed players and lost ruckman Dawson Simpson just before the bounce to the AFL side.

Mitch Brown took out best on ground honours with his annihilation of Dean Galea. Not far behind was Josh Caddy who again asserted his domination on the centre square.

The only negative for the Cats was young gun Billie Smedts who suffered a concussion.
