Geelong has made a late change on the eve of it's clash with Brisbane.

Young ruckman Nathan Vardy experienced some back tightness in the Cats last training session prior to flying to Brisbane.

Vardy has been replaced by Dawson Simpson who will play his first game for 2013.

Simpson has a played a total of five career games, four of which have been interstate. Remarkably he has never played an AFL game against a Victorian team.

The 206cm giant underwent back surgery at the start of 2013 but his form in the VFL, where he is averaging 36.4 hitouts a game across five matches, warranted his call up.
