It only took three weeks, but Gary Rohan has already returned to his damaging best in the VFL as he continues to build strong form after returning from injury.

The veteran forward booted a game high four goals against Carlton at IKON Park, amassing numerous score involvements and reeling in seven marks as Geelong cruised to a big win.

The 32 year old was pleased with how his form has progressed since returning in round three, telling Cats Media that he is gaining confidence in his body each week.

"I'm feeling really good,” Rohan said after the Cats big win over the Blues.

“It's my second full game back now, I pulled up well and feel like I'm moving nicely out there.

I'll be putting my hand up for selection next week and if not, I'll keep knocking on the door.

I just want to control what I can control, and be ready when they call me up."

Rohan is now into his sixth season at Geelong and the 15th season of his AFL career, after crossing over from Sydney at the end of the 2018 season.

The versatile forward continued to be an important piece in the Cats puzzle last year, hitting the scoreboard in each of his opening nine games, while also kicking three goals in back to back weeks against Melbourne and Port Adelaide.

Rohan noted that playing in the VFL has given him the chance to develop his leadership skills, playing alongside the Cats next generation who are just commencing their AFL journey.

Geelong’s young talent was well and truly on display against the Blues with the likes of Toby Conway, Mitch Knevitt and Ted Clohesy all performing strongly to lead the Cats to victory.

Rohan said that it is exciting for the club to see so many young stars developing in a strong system, creating a bright future for the club.

“We are building something special here in the reserves, we are getting better each week,”  Rohan said.

"It's great to see those young guys coming through.

It gives Jed [Bews] and I another role through our leadership, we are taking that onboard and we love it out there.

We love seeing our younger boys coming through, helping them out and seeing them play well is great.

Shannon Neale and Jhye Clark for example are knocking on the senior door, so it's good to see the younger boys doing well and it keeps the senior boys honest."
