A versatile tall who can play in the ruck or up forward, Kate Darby is an inaugural AFLW player, having begun her career at Carlton in 2017 before joining the Cats in their inaugural AFLW season in 2019.
Darby shouldered more of the ruck load in 2024 and rose to the challenge, averaging career-high numbers in tackles, clearances and inside 50s.
Signing a one-year deal at the end of 2024, Darby will be a crucial leader in developing young rucks Caitie Tipping and Piper Dunlop, as well as continuing to provide the Cats with versatility with its tall stocks.
Off-field, Darby has won four Geelong Cats AFLW Carter Family Community Champion awards, an award which recognises the impact Cats players have on and with community programs and external organisations.
